• Combination Rule

To do this we have to follow the above setup configuration requirements.
Fig 01
Lets Start with creating the Combination Definition
Main Menu > Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definitions > Chartfield Design
Fig 02
Main Menu > Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definitions > Chartfield Design
Fig 02
We can add multiple chartfield selected as shown in Fig 02 . At present we shall go with Account and Dept. Once you saved the above screen you notice Anchor Chartfield check box where the Account Chartfield is set to (Anchor) The Anchor Field is [Account] This means where ever we enter Account filed in the journal entry the department is mandatory.
Now we have established the connection between Account and Dept. but haven’t specified what the connection is to be. The Manner in which the Chartfield of the connection definition are to be related to the each other. This can be achieved by Chartfield Combination Rule
Main Menu > Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definitions > Chartfield Design >
Fig 03
Rule Definition has been specified with valid effective dates and Dept is liked to the rule since the Account chartfield is Account is anchor will not be available in this window.
Check Box [Value Required] is enabled it implies all Dept. codes are available for selection.
Tab>2. Chartfield Combinations
Fig 04.
We could create multiple rules for the connection with Account and Dept. and can also specify for selected tree node. These rules can be used by all Business Unit or Selected Business Unit.
In the above scenario we have associated one rule with combination in real implementation we need to have multiple rule combination with Account, Dept, Operation Unit, Funds etc.. Instead of association each rule to the business unit we shall create a "Group of Rule which will apply for the business unit. This can be achieved by creating a Group which holds numbers of single rules which we created and associate to the business unit
Main Menu > Set Up Financials/Supply Chain > Common Definitions > Chartfield Design >

Build Combination Data –Run this Process to Build the Combination Data which we have created for Business unit and Ledger Group
Fig 06
Now the Process is completed we need to link the Process to the Business Definition.
